Boeing turns 100 years old on July 15, 2016. This is Boeing Plant 1 and was located on the lower Duwamish River in Seattle, Washington.
The company was originally called Pacific Aero Products Co and on May 9, 1917, they became the Boeing Airplane Company. Boeing Plant 1 (also known as “the Red Barn” or the “Boeing Oxbow Plant”) was the home of Boeing from 1917 to 1965. Today Boeing corporate headquarters is in Chicago, Illinois and they have 159,469 employees in 65 countries worldwide. Approximately 21,744 commercial aircraft have been built as of March 2016!
