We recently moved into a new hangar at our local airport and are sharing it with two Slingsby Fireflys which I knew nothing about. Interestingly enough these are British made airplanes and were built as basic aerobatic military trainers for over 21 years!

Originally produced as the Fournier RF-6, the airplane was an all wood airplane which first flew on March 12, 1974. Fournier was unable to keep up with production so in 1981 the development rights were sold to Slingsby Aviation Limited and were built in Kirkbymoorside, Yorkshire, England.
Slingsby renamed the RF-6 to T67 Firefly, and abandoned the all wood construction in favor of composite construction. It remained a high aspect ratio winged, basic aerobatic, military trainer throughout production.
